Playable Frontier / Editorial approach

Editorial approach

We choose a question, read the original sources, and explain what we find. Each article links to its sources.

  1. Choose a question

A story starts with a question about how a game or an interactive system works.

  2. Explain the design

Describe what the system does and which design choices matter. Use examples and diagrams where they help.

  3. Check the sources

Read the original research. Distinguish the authors’ findings from our interpretation and any tests we have run ourselves.

  4. Say what is uncertain

Explain what has not been tested and where the findings may not apply. When something changes, record the correction.
